The historical displays are first rate, professionally presented and well maintained. There are also various stuffed animal displays of birds, deer and even a black bear. My son loves the aquariums with all types of fish, turtles, frogs, snakes and an alligator, or two. The simulator actually doesn't move, only the scenes outside the windows do, so there is no motion sickness that you'll feel. This way you get to see what the river is like beneath the surface. Each view is different and changes and the bell is picked up and lowered into the water by people on a boat outside the windows. You stand in this diving bell with three windows. The simulator is fun, especially for kids. Superb historical displays, live fish and alligators in large aquariums, an upper level observation area, and a river diving bell simulator is just part of what's there. The Mississippi is a huge commerical shipping route, so you'll probably see plenty of tugboats and barges going upstream, or down.īut don't miss the museum. You can sit inside or outside and watch the river flow by. Located right on the river, the museum offers history, live animals, great views.and a lot of fun for all ages.įor starters, only the museum has a fee, which means most of the observation areas are free. The Tunica River Park is without a doubt the best museum of the Mississippi I've ever seen.
